Triple-digit addition and subtraction with regrouping are challenging concepts for many second graders. Here are some tips for practicing at home!
1. Practice one operation at a time.
2. Use base ten blocks or similar concrete manipulatives or printables to assist.
3. The standard algorithm is NOT required in second grade.
4. Reinforce that students need to move from ones, to tens, to hundred when adding and subtracting.
